Website Alternatives

Earlier this week we posted an article to our Facebook page that posed this question: “Can your business survive without a traditional website?”  Plenty of businesses can and do, so we have put together some tips for those of you who aren’t quite ready to take the website-plunge. 

Let me first say, that we love a good website. A large part of our business is web design, and we HIGHLY recommend websites to our clients whenever it’s feasible.  After-all, according to a recent Yelp blog, 85% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses. Then WHY might you ask, would we recommend anything other than a tried and true, beautifully branded and user-friendly website created by your friends here at Rooted ID? The answer is simple… sometimes a website just isn’t in the budget.

So what are the alternatives?

• A Splash Page – A small, well-branded web presence may be all you need. Sometimes the only thing consumers are looking for is a professional presentation of contact information and a general idea of products, services and/or pricing.  Because they are only one page, splash pages take less time to create which can, from a design standpoint, save money.  Rooted ID has tools that make splash pages possible without a monthly subscription.

• Branded Social Media – Ideally we prefer to brand social media as a compliment to a company website, but when a website isn’t feasible, social media pages can create a branded web presence. Keep in mind that social media pages aren’t visible by all internet users (i.e. some people don’t use social media, and logins are necessary to access social media pages), but a well-branded social media page is certainly better than no web presence at all. 

• Listings – Internet listings can be a great way to build a web presence. Again, we typically recommend these as a compliment to a website, but they can certainly serve a company well in combination with a splash page and/or branded social media. One of the most popular is a Google listing, but there are tons of listing opportunities to choose from. We can help navigate those options.
