An Epic Halloween Ad

Why It Works
- It's funny - Humor has mass appeal and tends to be (when in good taste) an effective marketing tool.
- It's candid - Humor is often contrived, but this ad is all the more effective because of it's authenticity. It doesn't get more honest than kids. Can't you imagine your son/daughter/niece/nephew/cousin speaking their mind about vegetable candy?
- It's cute - Who doesn't love a kid dressed as King Tut?
- It's relevant - Funny, candid and cute doesn't accomplish much from a marketing stand point without a little relevance. Crest capitalizes on a holiday tradition and clearly defines a universal need for their product. We may not need Crest in a world without candy, but a world without candy is a very scary place.
Halloween Marketing that Works for You
Halloween is a relatively low-pressure holiday and a great time to test the promotional waters. Small business owners do not typically have a Crest sized ad campaign budget or access to an army of elaborately costumed children, but there are plenty of low cost alternatives (window displays, customer rewards, parties, costume contests, etc).
